3D Scanner System

The Laboratory have different solutions as regards the multiscale survey and modelling of built and territorial heritage: from the more consolidated terrestrial LiDAR systems (Light Detection and Ranging), to innovative SLAM-based (Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping) MMS systems (Mobile Mapping System) which allow rapid and accurate dynamic acquisitions; in addition, there are hand-held structured-light scanners that, exploiting triangulation principles, are able to acquire and to document statues, assets belonging to artistic heritage and museum collections. Finally, in order to process and to manage these complex 3D databases (very dense point clouds and high resolution 3D models) different software solutions are available.
